Spotlight on the LUMINA Soundtrack: LGF
We are midway through the LUMINA season, and it's time for another spotlight on one of the hot indie bands that make up the LUMINA soundtrack! This time we feature Singaporean pop rock band LGF, whose beautifully epic song "Grey" closes out LUMINA Webisode 2: Wake Up Call.
LGF is comprised of gorgeous vocalist Regine, guitarist Chun (a.k.a Elias), bassist Richard, keyboardist Seto (a.k.a. Eisan), and drummer Melvyn. Coming a long way from their very first gig in June 2002, Little Green Frog (LGF) have bravely planted the flag for Singapore's Chinese indie rock scene.

JT: How did you come up with the band name "Little Green Frog"?
Regine: It all started with the band throwing out random names while sitting in a coffeeshop, when someone mentioned Chinese veteran singer, Gao Ling Feng, also known as "Frog Prince". Being juniors, hence the name "Little Green Frog". We like the quirky name and it symbolises FUN!!!
JT: What is the song "Grey" about? What inspired you to write it?
Regine: "Grey"'s melody came from our guitarist Elias and the lyrics came from our keyboardist Seto. The song is basically about anti-war and the innocent civilians suffering from it. We normally do quirky and fun tunes, but we do write about serious stuff once in a while :p
JT: Regine, you have a gorgeous voice! How long have you been singing and how would you describe your musical style?
Regine: THANK YOU!!!!! *hugs* I started at the age of 17 and couldn't stop since! I listen to a wide genre of music, but i guess I'm more in love with wild-girl-rock stuff :p

JT: Name your top five musical influences. If you could open for any band in the world, what band would that be?
Regine: We all have different influences, but in general I'll say we favor 80's music, Brit Rock, Electronic, etc.
If we can open for any band in the world, we will want to open for:
Regine: NO DOUBT!!!!!!
Elias: It has to be U2 cos I'd like to meet Bono and the Edge :D
Richard: Hiromi' Sonicbloom! (my influences are obviously from Jazz, heh!)
Seto: MAYDAY! MAYDAY! I have loads of qns to ask Ashin! I wanna absorb his power as a lyricist!
Melvyn: Definitely L'Arc~en~Ciel!!
JT: Any concert news or new albums coming? Is there any other news you would like to share with your fans?
Regine: We're currently signed by local indie label, The Enigmatic Army (T.E.A), and are currently working on our debut album targeted to be launched in early 2010. You can find out more about us by going to http://www.lgfband.com.
JT: Thank you for taking the time to talk with me! Regina and her Singaporean bandmates also rock live - check out their live performance video on YouTube:
